Notes:     . The first eight years of Hadrian's coinage in Alexandria offer only a rather crude portrait of Hadrian. Then, starting with his regnal year 9, the style improves. By year 10 Hadrian's Alexandrian portraiture rivals that of Roman die engravers. It is possible that Hadrian himself noted the poor quality of workmanship from the Alexandrian mint during the early part of his reign, and that he was responsible for the improved handiwork of Alexandria's celators
